Wrestling Hour Bonus -- Do Well Or We'll Kill Ya, Fool
OK. Here it is. The long awaited, much anticipated wrestling hour bonus. Don't play trivia without it! This one may be a little bit on the difficult side, but it is intended to separate anyone who has seen a match from those of you who plan on putting down "Hulk Hogan" for every answer.
Guessing won't be penalized unless you guess the Hulkster (which could make the grader unhappy).
Good Luck! And remember, when you know the answers, I'll change the questions! (Rowdy Roddy Piper)
- How many tag teams did Captain Lou Albano manage to the WWF title?
- Captain Lou Albano was once a co-holder of the WWF tag team title. What was the name of his team?
- Mr. Fuji did one better. He and his partner were two-time WWF title holders. His one-time partner, a 25-year veteran of pro wrestling, recently turned "good," and defeated Larry Zybysko for the AWA world title. Name this wrestling artifact.
- The current WWF tag team champions, Demolition, recently started their third term on top. But Ax and Smash are each two terms away from tying what former great's record of five? (Hint: they are not all with the same partner.)
- In his first appearance after coming out of retirement, Rowdy Roddy Piper fought an entire match with one hand behind his back. Who did he demolish in this mismatch?
- In 1979, Dusty Rhodes set the record for the shortest reign as NWA Heavyweight Champ. He was crowned on August 21, and dethroned five days later. Who did he beat for the title, and who took it away from him?
- Off The Top Rope: Randy "Macho Man" Savage usually finishes off his opponents with a flying elbow off the top turnbuckle. Only two wrestlers have ever kicked out of a pin attempt after being hammered by it. One was Hulk Hogan (who did it twice). Who was the other?
- Most people would assume that Andre the Giant was just too heavy to climb the top turnbuckle of a wrestling ring. But two rivals found out that with a little support (in the form of a steel cage), the Eighth Wonder of the World could make it up. Both of these unfortunates were victimized by a vertical splash from the top rope. Name these pancakes.
- Wreslters come from many walks of life. For example, Butch Reed was a football player, Randy Savage was a minor league baseball player, Dick Murdoch was an accounting major in college (we'll come back to him in the next question), etc. But George "the Animal" Steele had a peculiar profession, considering his wrestling persona. What was his occupation?
- Dick Murdoch is one of the few wrestlers to have gone to, and graduated from, college. While at West Texas State University, Murdoch played football shoulder to shoulder with another future wrestling great. This teammate went on to play pro football with the New England Patriots. Eventually, these two joined forces, and for three years were a dominating tag team. A couple of years ago, they reunited for a very brief period. Who was Murdoch's classmate, and what was the name of their infamous tag team?
- Rick Martel has held more than his share of tag team titles. Listed below are his five most recent championships. Name his tag team partner for each period (team names will not be accepted).
- 1978 Georgian (a minor belt in the NWA)--
- 980 WWF--
- 1981 WWF--
- d) 1982 Canadian--
- e) 1987 WWF--
- How high is a regulation steel cage?
- Who was recently named the wrestler of the decade (for the 1980s) by PWI magazine?
- Who is the only man to have held the WWF World, Intercontinental, and Tag Team titles?
- Who is the only man to have held the WWF World and Intercontinental titles, as well as the unofficial title of "King" of the WWF?
- Two WWF wrestlers have been married inside the squared circle (the ring, for those of you who don't know Gorilla Monsoon's lingo). Both couples split up. Name both of the wrestlers (they are both male).
- How fast was the quickest pin in WWF history, who won it, and what happened to him after it?
- There have been two "living legends" in the sport of kings. In the WWF, the title was deservedly given to Bruno Sammartino. In the AWA, the title was self-proclaimed by what eternal bad guy?
- The Machines were one of the most popular "good guy" gangs in recent WWF history. In all, five masked people wrestled under this name. The Giant Machine and the Super Machine were the originals. Name the other three.
- Up To Date.....
Give the most recent names of the following wrestlers:
- Terry Taylor
- Tiny Lister
- Lawrence Tero
- Big Bubba Rogers
- The Rock (this was Don Muraco's nickname, not his wrestling name. "The Rock" wrestled with Sting in a tag team known as the Blade Runners)
- We Are Family.....
The von Erichs are probably the most well-known wrestling family. But there are several pairs of relatives who put on the tights. For each of the following, please give the names of the lesser-known relatives in the wrestling game. All of the answers are names of active wrestlers (as of April 21).
- Bret Hart (two brothers)
- Arn Anderson (brother)
- Tito Santana
- Dusty Rhodes (brother)
- Bob Backlund (son)
- Bruno Sammartino (son)
- Wrestlemania
Give the winners and losers of all six Wrestlemania main events (for IV, just give the result of the final match of the tournament).

- Contrary to popular belief, the Wrestlemania II main event was not the first time the WWF World Heavyweight Title was defended inside a steel cage. Several years ago, a World Heavyweight Champion successfully defended his title, in a cage match, against an Intercontinental Champion, who refused to put his title on the line. Who were the wrestlers, and who won?
- In the last trivia contest, we were asked to describe four types of wrestling matches. Since there are SO MANY wonderful ways to hurt people, we're going to ask for four more. Identify (briefly but completely) the following matches:
- Diamond Miner's Glove Match
- Texas Death Match
- Open Season Match
- Flaming Death Match
- Name the leagues where each of the following fought in his rookie year:
- Rick Martel--
- Dusty Rhodes--
- The Ultimate Warrior--
- Kerry von Erich--
- How did wrestling promoters discover Mr. T?
- Lastly, the subjective question.
What was/is the greatest feud of all time, and why? Feel free to pick any battle of more than a couple of months, and give a brief outline of the major events. Personal biases are fun and encouraged. Detail is good, but too much of it is no fun for the grader. Remember, it's late, and our eyes are tired. Write in big letters.
