Robert Scherr

Hazzan Robert (Bob) Scherr (March 20, 1955 — ) is the current Jewish Chaplain of Williams College. Hazzan Scherr came to Williamstown in 2004 from a congregation in Natick, Massachusetts, where he served for more than 25 years. He is a regionally recognized bee keeper, a recreational cyclist and hunter, and brews his own beer and mead. His notable recipes include meatloaf, which he once made on Mount Greylock on a particularly snowy Mountain Day. Robert Scherr does not have frostbite.

He is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley, where he majored in American history. On the Williams campus, he is most famed for his layning and his bentsching.

When asked to comment for this article, Scherr inserted his hands into his pockets and leaned back slightly.
