Oh, nice, thanks Diana.  Never noticed that box before, and I'll definitely use it.  And Morgan, there are a heck of a lot of pages on Willipedia that don't have widespread interest (Cribbage, for example!), but I think the hope and eventual result of this site is that collectively a whole range of experiences of students at Williams is covered.  --[[User:05ztm|05ztm]] 14:57, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

Yes, cribbage was also one on my list of annoyances, but oh well.  I think I was partly resisting the urge to comment on the athletics blog and decided to write about this instead.  No hard feelings, I just think the wiki would appear more professional if we all used the 'don't show on main page' box more.

This is the discussion page for "Men's Golf Team". This page is where editors and readers discuss what content should and should not be in the article, and respond to others' questions and comments. Unlike articles' content pages, editors should only add material and respond to others' postings, and never make deletions. This page is intended to record the history of any debate, as well as work towards resolving it.

All commenters here should take credit for their words. When you make a change, suffix your posting with --~~~~ This will automatically record your username and the time of posting. Doing this helps seperate comments, and is consistent with Wikipedia guidelines.

I'm a little curious why the Golf page is constantly at the top of the newly edited pages. I understand of course that it means it is being updated more often than other pages, but why is this so? And regardless of why, how come people who are not on the golf team would care? It is possible to update pages and not have them appear on the recently updated page ranking, which I think would be polite since you are not adding anything to people's understanding of Williams by further additions to this page.

Well dude, it's not exactly bumping fresh material off the WSO front page. It's always at the top because it's one of the few articles being edited right now. I hope that changes, but until then, I wouldn't worry about it. --Evan 11:25, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

I'll try to do the updates more together as I learn to use Willipedia better. The article is pretty much done, so you shouldn't have too many worries in the coming weeks. And I do think it's a good article to have on here, as it captures the fun and recent history of the golf team. --05ztm 11:44, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

The reason it's showing up so much is that Zach is editing it a lot, and when he saves it, he doesn't check the box that says "Don't show on WSO main page." That box is for minor edits. Perhaps, Zach, if you are making minor edits such as spelling changes or formatting, you could check the box -- not that, as Evan points out, it's bumping anything else off to speak of. --07djd 14:00, 11 May 2006 (EDT)
