Etymology of Frosh

Not a shorthand for freshman. Wiktionary cites this as a combination of the words Freshman and Sophomore.

Please name one (1) time that frosh has been used to refer to a sophomore in recent years at Williams. I'll wait.

It doesn’t matter what it has meant recently. This is about the deep etymology of the word. Cassandra (talk) 22:39, May 15, 2024 (EDT)

While I love history as much as the forty-five history majors that graduated from Williams, relegating this discussion to merely its "deep etymology" does a complete disservice to the purpose of Willipedia, which is to provide a contemporary reference for students.
