For a list of public network printers, see http://cf.williams.edu/w/?u=docs/Public+Printer+List

If you are printing out many slides for studying, see How to print multiple slides per page

On a PC:
*Go to Start->Run and type "\\williams\williams"
*Find the type of the printer you want to install (some listed here). All public printers are HP, usually laserjet 5m, 4000, 4050, 4100. If you can't find the right one, select something close to it.
*The installation should complete on its own, and the printer will come up as an option the next time you try to print.
On a PC (without Novell NetWare installed):
*Go to "Printers and Faxes"
*Click "Add a Printer"
*Click Next and then Next again for "Local printer attached to this computer"
*Choose the "Create a new port" bullet and Scroll down to "Standard TCP/IP port"
*Click Next and then Next again
*Type in the name of the printer you want installed followed by ".williams.edu", e.g. lw-jesup-205.williams.edu
*Click Next twice, then wait a while
*Follow the same instructions as above for choosing the type of printer to install
Mac OSX OS X 10.4:
*Open Print and Fax from the System Preferences
*Choose the model. If you aren't sure, the HP laserjet 5m is a good choice.
*If you have AppleTalk enabled on your Mac you can browse for printers directly.

Unix servers:
*ssh into the unix servers
*issue the command lp -d "name of the public printer" "name of file", where the public printer name is from here, and the name of the file is the name of the file on your unix account.
*if you want to see the status of the printer, try lpstat -p "name of the public printer"
*laugh at your foolish \/\/1|\|D0\/\/$ friends.
