Assuming you have a PC, having Novell on your computer allows you to connect to the Williams Network, which allows you to do lots of cool stuff, including all the other how-to's that have the word "network" in them. For example, you can share your music on iTunes, store and access files in your [[network folders]], [[How to print to network printers|print to network printers]], run programs that would normally cost hundreds of dollars using the [[keyserver]], and connect to other computers on the network to access their shared documents.
