Troy

Troy is known to most students as the town one must pass through on Route 2 to get to Albany. It's a classic Rust Belt, run-down manufacturing town which used to be the Shirt Collar Capital of the World. If you drive through it, you'll see the sign for Troy advertising the town as the "Home of Uncle Sam"; allegedly, a meat packer named Samuel Wilson provided meat to the Army during the War of 1812 in barrels marked "U.S.", and someone suggested that the letters stood for "Uncle Sam". Samuel Wilson's remains are interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
